2 day Canyoning Guide Work Experience
April 22 – 23, Canyoning Guide Work Experience Weekend
Would you like to be a wizard of ropes and do choice bombs for a living?? If the answer is yes, you should join our 2 day Canyoning Guide work Experience here at Abel Tasman Canyons!
The 2 day experience will touch on many facets of Professional Canyon Guiding. From the technical and people skills required to run a safe and fun trip to the more mundane parts of the job (e.g the clean up!!). We want to inspire the participants and outline what’s involved in the job and the possibilities for the future!
Those that like what they experience can have a chat with us about further training with the NZ Canyoning School and possible job opportunities. Here at Abel Tasman Canyons we use the NZOIA qualification framework and train to the standard of the NZOIA Canyon Awards.

NZOIA Canyon 2 is the highest possible qualification you can get for canyoning guiding and instructing in New Zealand. Only a handful of people have achieved this level in New Zealand. The process is a full on 3 days assessment. Candidates have to show their personal skills, vertical rescue skills, white water rescue skills and provide a safe, fun and educational experience to model students in a high grade technical canyon. Lee den Haan did a great job getting the highest of the NZOIA Canyoning Qualifications. Find out more on the NZOIA website.
Congrats Lee! Top job mate!

Great exposure on One News. Reporter Ryan Boswell came for a trip down Torrent River.
We were well ahead of the pack to get our External Safety Audit done one year before it became legislation. It is a rigorous process to go through which forces you to critically look at all the steps taken to ensure the safety of our participants and staff. We passed with flying colours!
