Day 1

From Marahau you’ll join us on an exhilarating water taxi ride through the Astrolabe Roadstead into Anchorage. You then leave the golden sand beaches of the coast for a stunning 1.5 hour walk up and further into the Abel Tasman National Park. Along the way the guides will keep you entertained with endless amounts of stories about the history, culture, flora and fauna of the park. Delicious lunch is served before the action starts. At the top of the canyon you’ll jump into your rubber suit, crank your harness tight and pop your helmet on. After a clear safety briefing by the guides you enter the truly remote environment of the canyon. You’ll be jumping, sliding, abseiling, scrambling, floating and ziplining through this canyon for about 3.5 hours. The trip finishes with a royal slide into Cleopetras Pool…From the pool it is a 30 minute stroll along the river and the beach back to Anchorage where your nights accommodation awaits you, glamping in Anchorage. After a day of fun you are met with a cold beer or cup of tea, nibbles and a gourmet meal surrounded by New Zealand perfection. You sleep peacefully on a comfortable bed listening to the sounds of nature as you drift off to sleep. Camping along the Abel Tasman Track unites you with nature like no other accommodation can, with stunning starry skies, glow worm caves, and native wildlife to be encountered and admired close up.

Day 2

You start off with complimentary breakfast in Anchorage, then head over to the beach for a morning of your choice (relax on the beach, walk the beautiful Pitt head loop or go for a swim). Then it is time for a 1.5-2 hour walk along the Abel Tasman Coast Track to Observation Beach where you will meet your fun and friendly sea kayak guide at 12:30pm for lunch at the norther end of the beach.

After lunch you will have a quick kayak briefing, then you start your afternoon paddling adventure back to Marahau.

On the way paddle past beautiful Adele Island, there you can listen to the magical birdsong and try to spot the cheeky fur seals basking on the rocks. Then you will get to explore the glistening golden sand beaches of the famous Astrolabe Roadstead. As the sea breeze builds, finish off your 2 day adventure with an exciting kayak-sail back into Marahau.

If you’re still not sure if the Source to Sea is the trip for you then grab yourself a hot drink and read all about the experience of our former Manager Andy in his blog about one of the best guided trips in the Abel Tasman.

“Best day ever!!”

Tripadvisor review

My boyfriend and I did the Torrent River Canyon tour as part of the Source to Sea package (you canyon the first day and kayak the next day). We had an amazing time, probably the best thing we’ve done since arriving in New Zealand five months ago. Riki and Diana were fantastic guides. They were positive, energetic, professional and obviously LOVE what they are doing. This tour is worth every single penny. You get lunch, snacks, juice and a hot beverage along the way. We abseiled, zip lined, swam, cliff jumped…it was amazing!! it is a must do if you only have one or two days in the area. The hostel boat in Anchorage Bay was pretty cool. We were not expecting to be in such tight quarters, but we adapted. The dinner on the boat was great, very filling and there is time to enjoy the beach after canyoning and in the morning before you head to kayaking. The next morning you hike about 40 minutes to Watering Cove, and wait for the kayak guides to come meet you. Lunch is fantastic and the kayak is absolutely beautiful. It was very relaxing after such an intense day beforehand. We saw heaps of fur seals on Adele Island, including little baby ones! Our guide also told us some pretty interesting stories about the area.

HIGHLY recommend this. I would do this again in a heartbeat if I could!!
